HEFOSS-15 DATE SHIFTED TO 18-19 MAY 2015 DUE TO CLASH WITH NIGERIA'S ELECTION PERIOD

Following the postponement of the dates for Nigeria’s 2015 elections to 28^th March and 11^th April; the Central Planning Committee [CPC] and Stakeholders of the international Health, Human and Food Security Summit (HEFOSS) have reviewed the implications of the new date for holding the Summit during 29-31 March 2015 as previously scheduled.

29-31 March were chosen because the elections would have been over by February. As we may know, many of the expected participants/constituencies in the Summit are variously and deeply involved in the elections and may not be available to give the Summit the attention they genuinely desire to give it if it holds as already scheduled.

Consequently, and following a review of all the options available; the CPC under the able chairmanship of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, chairman of Nigeria Senate Health Committee hereby announce 18-19 May 2015 as the new date for the Summit, to accommodate the national elections and preparations towards the inauguration of newly elected official by 29 May 2015.

HEFOSS-15 shall provide all participants and stakeholders in Health Security, Human Security and Food Security unique capacity building opportunities to fraternize, share ideas and information, gain new knowledge and friends/partners/collaborators/supporters, improve their skills, expand their frontiers of influence and advocacy, and suggest a road-map for the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs).
